The Alberta Camping Association (ACA) is seeking volunteer applicants to join our Board of Directors. The association is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and committed individuals who share a passion for providing quality outdoor experiences for children all over Alberta. The ACA is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who have various professional backgrounds. There are currently five vacancies.

The Alberta Camping Association is a not-for-profit organization and a community of camp professionals, seasonal employees, volunteers, and supporters of organized summer and youth camps. We are committed to the highest standards of quality and safety, offering a Standards & Accreditation program, education and resources for member camp programs and facilities in Alberta.

What we do
Standards & Accreditation- The Alberta Camping Association develops and maintains standards for organized camping in Alberta. It is through the Standards and Accreditation program that we help the general public identify safe, healthy, well-run camps.
Education & Resources- As a professional association the Alberta Camping Association is dedicated to continuous improvement. We provide members with resources to support the growth of their organizations and bring together our community to provide professional development experiences.
Networking & Community– The Alberta Camping Association brings together summer and youth camps from across Alberta to work as a community. With opportunities to problem solve collaboratively and learn from each other, we can build forward towards even better camp experiences for all

Skills and Experience
We are seeking individuals with one or more of the following skills and areas of expertise:
- Familiarity with children’s camps (e.g. recreation, programming)
- Marketing and promotion
- Fundraising
- Previous work with non-profit organizations
- Previous experience being on a board of directors
- Experience as a treasurer and/or accounting experience
- Leadership competencies (strategic planning, issues management, collaboration)
Promoting an Inclusive Board
The ACA strives to have a Board that is inclusive and mirrors the entire community. We seek candidates from all backgrounds.
Time Commitment
Directors on the Board make a commitment to serving a three year term. ACA is a working volunteer board with a monthly time commitment of a minimum of 20 hours.
This time commitment includes:
- Attend monthly board meetings (Second Tuesday of every month from 1-2 pm)
- Participation in at least one committee
- Participation in ACA project meetings/programming
- Contribution to task groups and/or other Ad Hoc Committee work as needed
