We are looking for at least one Senior (+18) Counselor, and 2 either Junior or Senior Counselors
Job Title: Camp Counselor
Type: Seasonal Full Time (June 18 – Aug 4)
Age Requirement: Senior (18+) or Junior (16-18)
Reporting to: Program/Assistant Coordinator
Overview: Camp Kannawin is seeking Camp Counselors to support our summer camping program. The role involves promoting our mission of developing and nurturing a Christian Faith and character in children and youth through a church camping community. You’ll be providing support to campers, staff, users, and visitors and actively contributing to the life and ministry of Camp Kannawin.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the care and supervision of up to ten campers in a communal living environment.
  • Provide leadership to participants in various camping programs – day, overnight, and theme camps.
  • Supervise assigned campers, cabin leaders, and Leaders in Training (LIT’s).
  • Assist in program creation, planning crafts, games, and campfire activities.
  • Welcome campers, parents, volunteers, and guests.
  • Attend all required training sessions and meetings.
  • Participate in all camp activities, ensuring safety and compliance with camp rules.
  • Assist with programming instruction; including Bible study, crafts, games, waterfront activities, and outdoor education activities.
  • Participate in site cleaning at the end of each week.
  • Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of common areas.
  • Complete self-assessment as part of the camp evaluation process.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children and/or youth.
  • Self-motivated and self-directing.
  • Strong relational skills with children, youth, and adults.
  • Willing to accept supervisory responsibility and work as part of a team.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Commitment to promoting and following the Leading with Care & Sexual Harassment Policies of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
  • Possession of Standard First Aid certificate with a minimum of CPRC (including introduction to AED) is an asset. (Training may be provided by the camp)
  • Flat water Canoe Instructor’s certificate from Paddle Alberta (or equivalent) is an asset. (Camp Kannawin may offer this course as part of their KREW training)
