To give every camper and staff an opportunity to experience a Christian community, where they are challenged to develop themselves spiritually, physically, and emotionally in a safe, nurturing, and fun outdoor environment.

POSITION: Camp Coordinator – Project Administrative Officer (PAO)

HOURS: Seasonal Full Time (May 9 – Aug 2022 Preference to 21 yrs+)

REPORTS TO: Camp Kannawin Executive Committee


The Camp Coordinator will provide over sight and supervision of the Camp Kannawin 2022 summer camping and rental program. Camp Coordinator will work to promote the purpose of Camp Kannawin, which is to develop and nurture a Christian Faith and character in children and youth through living together in a church camping community. The Camp Coordinator shall provide support to campers, staff, users and visitors who are involved in the life and ministry of Camp Kannawin

  • Be flexible and able to accept and implement camp’s ever-changing needs.
  • Computer skills
  • Live on site during the camping months
  • Current Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR w/AED qualification
  • Able to provide a criminal record check
  • Promote and follow the Leading with Care &Sexual Harassment Policies of the Presbyterian Church in Canada with staff and volunteers to ensure the safety of children, youth and vulnerable adults.


Camp Coordinator shall strive to achieve and maintain standards for the Alberta Camping Association accreditation and Camp Kannawin.

Coordinate training for programs, accommodation; provide leadership to team members and guests.  Implement camp rules and protocols to provide a safe camping experience. Support to team members and campers; interact with youth.  Documentation and record keeping for legal requirements as per provincial legislation and camp expectations.

Additional responsibilities in specific areas are as follows:

A. Personnel

  • Have a working knowledge of the job descriptions for all staff positions;
  • Responsible for the supervision, performance evaluation
  • Responsible for daily team meetings to ensure day is organized;  the teams goals are being met and moral is high
  • Discipline a team member if necessary with the guidance of a Camp Committee member according to camp policies and procedures
  • Obtain information from team members for payroll and submit to Camp Treasurer

B. Finance and Administration

  • Review the Crisis Management Plan and Emergency Procedures and recommend revisions.
  • Log activity reports during the contract period.
  • Obtain a working knowledge of the Camp Management Software in order to maintain staff, volunteer and camper records.
  • Participate in the camper registration process; including the reconciliation of payments
  • Manage petty cash and provide the Treasurer with a biweekly summary of all camp cash expenditures

C. Program

  • Participate in the planning and organizing the camp programs.
  • Participate in the training of program staff and volunteers.
  • Provide chaplains with worship and study material.
  • Responsible for daily meetings and devotions with staff and volunteers.

D. Property

  • Over see the use of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Ensure cleanliness
  • Report necessary property improvements and repairs to the Camp Committee
  • Ensure overall security of site, staff and equipment.
  • Maintain good public relations with staff, campers, parents, visitors, fellow churches and general public

E. Communications

  • Oversee the summer communication officer / Office Administrator use of promotional materials in social media and other related platforms

F. Health and Food

  • Communicate any and all health concerns to the Health Care Attendant (HCA) in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that allergies and other food concerns are addressed with the Head Cook.
