Camp Nurse

The Camp Nurse is responsible for the care of ill or injured campers and staff, and related administrative duties. The Camp Nurse ensures the nursing station is kept clean and stocked with appropriate supplies and medications; maintains clear, accurate and concise records on all campers and staff; keep a daily medical log, and maintains and documents the camper/staff chart; dispenses and keeps a record of daily medications administered; makes sure that medications brought to camp are locked in the medication cupboard; provides first aid packs for rafting and hiking and restocks after each trip; provides Epi-Pens and any prescribed camper medication to staff before departure; administers camper (and staff) prescription medications as directed; dispenses over-the-counter medications per our medication policy; assesses campers and staff who are ill or injured and determine if further medical attention is needed; assists in stabilizing campers and staff requiring transportation to medical facilities; contact with parents of ill or injured campers and staff (if appropriate) and updates as necessary; documentation of all injuries and care rendered; documentation of all over-the-counter medicines; maintain inventory of supplies; and counselling as needed (such as homesick campers).
