Program Staff
Job Summary
In our Spring, Fall and Winter seasons Program Staff are called Outdoor Educators. Outdoor Educators are responsible
for facilitating programs and ensuring the safety of our client groups, including schools, youth groups, Guides, and
Scouts. Programs for these clients feature a wide range of outdoor activities. Regular working hours usually consist of
around 12 hours a day depending upon the needs of the clients or camp.
In the Summer season, all Program Staff are referred to as Counsellors. They lead groups of campers in grades K-9
through our summer camps. These overnight and day camps run Monday through Friday and include various
activities and out-trips. Counsellors work the entire day during the summer season, from wake up to bedtime, they are
also expected to deal with any issues about their campers, which occur during the evening.
Camp Warwa is led by a collaborative leadership community. Our organizational culture is cooperative, welcoming and
carries a strong commitment to mentoring and professional development. Camp Warwa will provide all the necessary
training at the beginning of each season and additional training opportunities throughout the year. Program Staff
are also invited to participate in a weekend leadership program in the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons to help them
grow and develop as outdoor professionals. Program Staff report to our Program Coordinators and Operations
Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties
Supervision and care of campers
Attending camp-provided training to learn how to facilitate our programs
Safely facilitating a wide range of outdoor programs
Performing various camp facility support tasks such as helping with cleaning, cooking and program setup
Working as part of a team
Qualifications and Skills
Program Staff will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of children. They will be role models who
possess integrity, communication skills and value both community and nature. A Criminal Reference Check and
Standard First Aid with CPR-C is required. Program Staff must have completed grade 12.
Education or experience working with children or in outdoor pursuits/recreation are assets. Experience in any of the
specific programs that Camp Warwa offers is also an asset, including Canoeing, Ropes Courses, Camping/Bushcraft,
Hiking, Horseback Riding or being a D&D Dungeon Master.
Salary and Benefits
Salary of $105-$120/day after on-site room and board deductions, and access to Wi-Fi and laundry. Accommodation
provided in a shared room in our Staff Accommodations for the Spring & Fall Seasons. In the Summer Season
Program Staff stay in a shared staff room within our camper accommodations. Average of 5 days on per week.
